More than just a daytrip! | The entrance to old town in Cesky Krumlov |
We were foolish enough to think that Cesky Krumlov could be done in a day, and as soon as we arrived we were kicking ourselves for not planning better and having more time to spend there! We were staying in Ceske Budejovice and decided to take the short train tride to Cesky Krumlov, and because we already had a nice place to stay in CB, we decided not to risk getting to CK and not having anywhere to stay. The train we took to CK was very old and slow but it was so awesome at the same time because of it's charm. The views along the way were nothing but wonderful and once we arrived in Krumlov it took us a little while to figure out our way down to old town. It's about a 15 minute walk there and since we were the only ones walking in that direction, we really weren't sure if we were going in the right way. The Swede in the duo was skeptic as usual, but of course the optimist American half knew what she was doing and we ended up right where we should. ;) The view waiting for us was more than pictures can describe! |
| Just one of the beautiful views in Cesky Krumlov! |
| | Walking through a fairytale I always considered Prague to be a fairytale city, but Cesky Krumlov is even more so! The streets, the charming architecture, everything is amazing! I can't remember what we did first but all I kept thinking was how I wish we were spending more time in this enchanting location! After stopping to eat some delicious smezane syr and washing it down with a fantastic pint of the local Eggenberg dark brew, it was time to do more exploring. We walked by the rived working our way around the city, stopped and watched the people tubing and floating down the river. I was dying to get in myself! The weather was perfect even though it was smotheringly hot, I loved it! You can bet I'll be riding my own tube down the river during my next visit in July! :) |
The main square After walking our legs off, drinking several more beers at different locations, the never-ending hunt for a bathroom to make room for more beer, and walking around the castle and outskirts of old town, it was time to find dinner before heading back to Ceske Budejovice. Our last meal in Cesky Krumlov was absolutely the best. Gypsy gulas that still makes my mouth water just thinking about it! I can't WAIT to get back to Krumlov this July and this time I'll be spending more than just one day there! :) | | |
