A town for all senses | Church spires backdropped by mountains |
As towns go, this is an exemplary showpiece on how to get things right. User-friendly, no pollution, beautifully preserved buildings, picturesque mountains on two sides. Sure, the kitsch touristy things are there, but they're not thrust in your face and you can ignore them if you choose. The painted facades and shining domes highlight the architecture while the public spaces are a delight to walk in. Everywhere I turned my head I was able to see a gothic church spire with a backdrop of snow capped alps. With the babbling river bisecting the city to satisfy yet another of the senses it definitely is a place I can recommend. |

Goldernes Dachl and the Stadtturm impress a lot. A walk in the park in springtime was delightful I believe. Thanks Jan for the virtual tour! |
