"The Skye legend" Isle of Skye by iandsmith
Isle of Skye Travel Guide: 441 reviews and 879 photos
The common knowledge is that Skye is the most scenically beautiful part of Scotland. Uplands rising from the plains down south to the dramatic cliffs of western Skye.
This was an island that promised much and delivered much. It's one of the few places I've ever visited that bore some resemblance to my idea of what it was going to be like.
The Old Man of Storr was immediately recognizable, Portree similarly so and Kilt Rock also.
Of course, if there's one other thing Skye has a reputation for it's weather. That was immediately recognizable as well.
- Pros:Scenically pretty, easy to get around, good walking possibilities
- Cons:Weather
- In a nutshell:If you like natural scenery, put it on your "to-do" list

Such stunning landscape! I really would love to go here and your page makes me even more eager! Hahaha, well, to be exact, you have made me start planning for it right NOW! :-))
glad to see it lived up to the hype. i like the literary allusions and the misty photos.
Now this was realy a pleasurable tour. Thanks for the great tips ;-)
"...a wild and dramatic landscape" indeed! I'm glad you led off with an Ossian tip, and also included tips on the clearances. See you on the 18th!
Fantastic done. It's seems that this area is made for ramblers( who I am) Those page let me travel from the front of my PC. And it feels good. Probabely is it better tosee it there. But Time and money. Jean-Pierre
Looks like Portree for me. Love those little seaside villages...whatever the country.
Ah Skye = I see you saw the dual language & the mist!!
Beautiful photographs. I must return to Scotland and visit the Highlands and Islands.
