Cruikshank Cottage: B & B's

This is a lovely purpose built bed and breakfast about 20ks south of Armidale. The owners mainly run sheep and I can promise you a truly rural experience should you choose to stay here.
They also have some exotic species such as Scottish Highland cows and an odd breed of horse but, you can find out all about that when you get there.

Unique Qualities: The quality of the cottage sets the standard in the area and is ideal for a family of four. Very comfortable.

Address: North Mihi

Comparison: about average

Directions: You can get there from Uralla or Armidale. See the local tourist office in either place.

Price: US$20-40

Theme: Bed and Breakfast

Review Helpfulness: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Moore Park Motor Inn: A little on the rural side

This motel is just on the outskirts of the town yet, when you are in your room looking outside you may well see a horse or other animals nearby. It's set on a hectare or two with all rooms on the ground floor.
The restaurant setting is best described as nice and cosy with the requisite fire in winter.
This is part of the Best Western chain so you can claim your credits here if you're a member.

The fabulous gorge country - New England Range

The fabulous gorge country

Cheyenne: B & B's

This has three things going for it, location etc. It literally backs on to the gorge and the other side of the back fence is National Park and a 2,000 foot drop.
The owners still have sheep and cattle on the property but know they have a winner with the tourists.

Unique Qualities: There is something holistic about sitting on Philosopher's Rock, as I call it, and feeling the draught of a zephyr from the gorge below and contemplating how insignificant man is in the scheme of things as you gaze across hundreds of square kilometres of wild uninhabited gorge country carved over aeons by the upper Macleay River. The longer you sit there, the more you relax as tension flows away. Life on a grand scale is taking place before your eyes and you are but a pin prick in a paddock.
One thing I can promise you, you will have it to yourself.

Address: Approx. 35km north east out from Walcha

Price: US$20-40

Theme: Bed and Breakfast
