A place on the mountain

As mountains go, Mount Dandenong wouldn't really rate in terms of height and mass but, don't try telling that to Melbournians for this place is deservedly revered in Australia's second biggest city.
To use the analogy "an oasis in the desert" isn't entirely inappropriate for water is clearly the driving force behind the magnificent forests that line the hillsides.
In fact, they are so tall that the world's tallest tree once grew in the area. Sadly, they only found that out when it was chopped down. It measured 114 metres in height and was a eucalyptus regnans, or mountain ash as they call them here.
