Once upon a kronosaurus

"I've just spent what I planned as a half day but end up as two full ones in Richmond, a suburb or town many down south in Australia are familiar with but a village up north less well known. This one happens to be in North Queensland and its claim to fame is Kronosaurus Corner.
It wasn’t always so. Back in the 1930’s a skeleton of a Kronosaur was discovered near Richmond at Army Downs. Doing the right thing it was handed over to the Queensland Museum.
Amazingly, perhaps somewhat in hindsight, they didn’t want it either. Thus it was that it was handed over to Harvard University in America. They figured it had value. How right they were."

Pros and Cons

Pros:Well kept, welcoming of tourists, the gorgeous little lake, great birdwatching
Cons:Weather can be oppressive in summer
In a nutshell:Definitely worth a stop

Good stuff, you've convinced me that we need to include Richmond on our next trip to the northern OTBP places! That Kronosaurus sure is impressive.
