I have just arrived at Meyrueis and it's an active tourist centre situated in a valley with the stream running right through the town.
At night the lights make a walk through the town atmospheric to say the least, an allure added to by the drizzling rain!

After I spent a few days at Meyruis I got to explore a little more and realise that, when you think about it, Meyruis is set more in forest than in anything else though that is not the impression you initially get.
This shot was taken on one of my trips upstream and gives you some idea of the fertility of the area.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Good base, can get accommodation and food easily, good tourist information centre
  • Cons:A little remote from some attractions
  • In a nutshell:Good location to base your Gorges du Tarn activities
