Quality accommodation, we were on the left - Cornwall

Quality accommodation, we were on the left

Clowance Estate and Country Club: Pure indulgence

This was a week where the weather didn't favour parts of Clowance. The golf course for instance. Apart from one day it was either raining or about to rain and that, coupled with the often fresh to strong winds, might have made the whole thing unpleasant.
However, the resort can't help the weather and they have an excellent on site gym (looked at, not tried) and a spacious indoor pool.

Unique Qualities: Speaking of resort, it's actually an RCI member and that's how I, as a fellow member, got in. It's close to 5 star stuff with its own golf course, lovely walks around the estate and rooms built in blocks of 8.
Ours was adjacent to the main office so everything was convenient. It's just a shame that we were there to see Cornwall and not partake in resort activities.
They have a restaurant with quality food but it comes at a quality price. Still, if you've gotten this far then that shouldn't be a problem.
The rooms are on two levels with the beds and en suite upstairs and everything else on the ground floor, including spacious kitchen, comfortable lounge, TV, stereo etc.
It's the sort of place you'd like to base yourself whatever you do.

Address: Praze an Beeble (near Camborne)

Comparison: more expensive than average

The sea wall protecting the garden - Cornwall

The sea wall protecting the garden

Castle Gayer: A mount-ainous view

Unique Qualities: This is a Victorian house built on a peninsular to give uninterrupted views of St. Michael's Mount from the sitting room and garden. There's a solid fence all round and it is open all year. Though the garden may be exposed to the weather, on a nice Cornish day that can be a bonus

Genuine water views - Cornwall

Genuine water views

Ponsmere Hotel: I love to be besides the seasides

Though perhaps bits of the place could be modernized, for the price of around 65 pounds for a couple for B&B with genuine water views (varies depending on season), there are worse places to stay in Cornwall.

Unique Qualities: This edifice was created by the Batchelor family in 1924.
The Ponsmere would be an excellent place for a family holiday, surfers and toddlers. Many people enjoy the natural beauty of Perranporth, its beach and rugged Atlantic coastline.
Perranporth's wonderful location and sandy beach is one of Cornwall's finest, a natural playground for all the family, where the golden sands are an absolute paradise for children, with sea, surf and Cornish sunshine.
It also has the added attraction of the holes in the rocks that I chose to explore.

Address: Ponsmere Road, Perranporth

Comparison: about average

Price: US$40-80

The room - Cornwall

The room

Mullion Cove Hotel.: Room with a view

This is luxury so, backpackers need not bother. At 120 pounds the cheapest rate in the holiday season and 300 pounds for the honeymoon suites - per night, only the well heeled need apply.
Still, the food lives up to the quality of the accommodation and it's all set in a dining room with picture windows so you can take in the view whilst dining.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable with all the normal amenities you'd expect in this type of accommodation.

Unique Qualities: If you're looking for views and have deep pockets, then this might be the place for you to spend a romantic weekend. Situated cliff top it commands genuine 360 degree views though it's the sea and rugged coastline that you'll be more inclined to look at.
Mullion Cove Hotel stands in a spectacular position on the cliffs above the working harbour of Mullion Cove. It was built at the behest of the Cornish Railway at the turn of the century.

Address: Mullion Cove, Cornwall

Comparison: more expensive than average

Directions: It's about five miles north west of the Lizard

Price: US$120-180
