Waikiki IS our #1 Tourist town

Visit Waikiki, but don't forget to see the rest of our island! Waikiki has to be classed all by itself ... there is so much to see and do. It is very expensive, so plan wisely. People are very friendly in Waikiki, because they want you to feel welcomed and to spend your money! Research before you head out to the Waikiki, that way you will be dealt fewer surprises to the $$hock . One very inexpensive trek you must make is a hike up to the summit of Diamond Head. Take water with you, and a flashlight, otherwise travel very light. There is no parking fee, and only a $1 park entrance fee. Wear comfortable walking shoes, and a visor of sorts.

Free hula show after tiki lighting

Hula Show

After almost three years being back on the Islands, I still enjoy a stroll down the main boulevard in Waikiki. When we have friends visiting our island, we usually try to take them to the tiki lighting and a hula show before we walk the main beach strip. There is much to see in the way of entertainment. This particular "free" hula show will provide you with some history of the hula, as well as a demonstration of each of the instuments they use while dancing.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Delightful, busy place ... very tropical setting
Cons:Expensive, expensive, and then some
In a nutshell:Beautiful place to be, but be sure to venture into the rest of the island for REAL island beauty.
