Pineapples galore! and other Wahiawa, HI Tourist Trap Tips

Dole Plantation ~ not really in Wahiawa, but just on the outskirts of town. There is really very little here about pineapples, and their main asset here is the gift shop. Their lures are the ice cream gimmick, and the "maze" just to the right of the entrance. Touring the area is free, but there is a fee for touring the gardens, riding the train and walking the maze.

At Least Do This: If you find yourself here, at least go in the back and see small pineapple field displays and learn some pineapple facts. You'd be amazed at all the world wide varieties of pineapple!
Alternative: Don't forget to stop by the Del Monte corner just up the street ~ planted there are various pineapples from other countries, as well as patches showing various stages of pineapple planting here in Hawaii. (see "must see" tip on Del Monte corner) Helemano Plantation is next door, and has a nice variety of plants to look at as you stroll through their small walkways.
