There's nothing more exciting than to get off the beaten path and explore what natural beauty lay ahead on the Big Island of Hawaii. Boasting with tell tale signs of a slower paced lifestyle, the Big Island offers abundant waterfalls, gorgeous beaches and breathtaking volcanoes ! NEW! Kilauea lava flow pictures & travelogues. Most people fail to realize that it actually snows in Hawaii ~ this photo of a snow capped Mauna Kea was taken around early spring 2002. Big Island of Hawaii has FOUR National Parks to visit and add a stamp to your Nat'l Parks Passport Book. |
| | Never-ending Waterfalls The Big Island has many waterfalls, many of which you will miss is you're not looking for them. For example, if you're driving on your way to Akaka falls(pictured here), keep looking on each side of the road for "breaks" in the trees . . . there could possibly be a waterfall in the midst of the break. Be sure you check out my "Big Island Waterfalls" travelogue. |
Beautiful beaches The big island certainly has beautiful beaches. There are many beaches along the way that are "black sand" beaches. Be sure to stop by and visit one, but leave it the way you found it (clean, that is) | | |

Thanks for the help | triplehelix Wed May 10, 2006 23:04 UTC those gas prices are long gone. they've gone up to $3.47 in hilo and $3.65 in kona :/ | Royal63 Fri Mar 24, 2006 03:29 UTC It is unfortunate that the Volcano House only has smoking rooms. We tried to stay there for this May and I was told all rooms were smoking. So we are staying at the Hilo Hawaiian instead. | LoriPori Tue Mar 14, 2006 13:10 UTC Awesome!!!! Love the "Lava Flows at Nite" pic. That "King Kamehameha" statue sure gets around. I thought I saw it in Oahu. The name alone is a mouthful. HeHe. xxx. Lori. |
