Getting TO/AROUND: The most practical way to get TO our islands, of course, is via airplane. But if you have the time, take a cruise and be sure you visit each of the islands! AROUND: My advice would be to rent a vehicle for the duration you are on the islands. THOUGH, Hawaii has the top rated MTL (bus) system in our nation. For about $1.50, you can get almost anywhere on the island of O'ahu. Taxi cabs are still the most expensive route while shuttles and trolley cars are a fun way to get various places WITH a tour guide filling you in with many details about the islands along the way. By the way ... a motorhome is not recommended ... haha.

Getting TO/AROUND: TheBus is the nations top rated MTL (mass transit lines) and will take you almost anywhere on the island of O'ahu for $1.50 (adult fare) and .75cents (child/school age fare) The buses run pretty much on schedule, barring any major traffic jams. I believe all the buses are also air-conditioned. You can get bus schedules from any satellite city hall along with various other outlets and hotel lobbies.
BTW, if it's too far from home to get to the bus stop, you can ride your bike there, and the buses are equipped with bike racks in the front so your bike can go with you!
