View of old city and Neckar River from Castle I lived and studied in Heidelberg for a little over 2 years. It's a beautiful small city which was not bombed in WWII, so the historic parts are still intact. It is home to Germany's oldest and greatest university. Most of Germany's great minds have passed through here. Even Mark Twain wrote a book about it. The bunsen burner (that thing you use in science class) was invented here. It was the setting of a cool German pop horror flick called Anatomy starring Franka Potente (Lola Runs). It's basically a college town (30% student population) with a mellow nightlife. The castle ruins are world famous. |
