Beaches: The Beaches
  • Tip Rating:
  • A very non-Toronto neighbourhood indeed, The Beaches (or Beach, depending on who you speak to) lie East of the city on a relatively undeveloped (read: no monster condo developments like in the harbourfront) piece of Lake Ontario.

You still can't swim at this 'beach' most of the time, thank you pollution, but it makes for some of the prettier scenery in the city.

Great for Sunday brunch and shopping up & down Queen street in the trendy little shops, The Beaches is at its best on a sunny weekend morning.

Public transport there is a bit of a mission, but that's probably half the reason (other than the high property prices) why it's still relatively undeveloped and able to retain its character.

City Hall & Nathan Phillips Square: City Hall
  • Tip Rating:
  • Looking over Nathan Phillips square, not all that spectacular, but there's an ice rink on the square in winter, and this is also where the Winterfest is held.

events / festivals: Enjoy the Renaissance festival...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Enjoy the Renaissance festival in July and August.
Jousting, shows, food and great beers especially brewed for the festival.
