Jewel of the North, City of Bridges, Party City of the North and aspirant European City of Culture, Newcastle is no longer the coal-mining city that brought it to fame.
A modern city, fighting the North/South divide for recognition, Newcastle is a fun place with extraordinarily friendly people, and a lot to see in- and around the city.
A great base for York, Durham & even Scotland, it's location and transportation links make it an excellent place to stay.
Personally I only realised how much I missed the place after I moved from there to Canada. Much less expensive than London and the South, the quality of life in Newcastle is some of the best I've experienced in the UK. |
