this is the leaning tower of pisa... just make a day trip out of pisa. i left rome in the early morning, took the train to florence (3 hr), checked in to the hostel in florence, dropped everything off, and jumped on a train from florence to pisa (45 min). pick up a walking map to the leaning tower at the info center at the pisa train station. walk to the leaning tower (10-20 min). check it out, and head back to the station...
