I spent just one day in Coimbra, which probably was too little time to get an objective impression of this charming city. Unfortunately, there were a couple of unexpected events that forced me to leave the place sooner of what I would have liked.

My big fat portuguese wedding

First at all, my visit coincided with the academic holidays, so instead of finding a town full of student activity (which was what I was expecting to find in the oldest Portuguese university), I discover a place mostly inhabited by tourist... not exactly an idyllic vision, as you may guess. To complete the fun, an unsolicited cold had the gentle idea of settling down in my organism during that day. In a way, it´s not accurate to say that I miss Coimbra; Saying that I missed it will be truer.

Birds in the head

Despite those facts, I highly enjoyed the elegance of, as my travel book insists in calling it, the "Portuguese Oxford", and I recognised in its streets a distinctive flavour that seems to me, as a Spaniard, so distant and so familiar at the same time...

That wedding looks absolutely fantastic! It's always great to see the different ways weddings are celebrated. Great photos.

WHAT a heavenly sunset! Again, great minds see things alike, well most of the time...I have a similar shot of the rooftops over Montmartre, although I daresay the skies aren't so beautifully ribboned as yours here!
