Holiday Hong Kong

by volarevolare - last update: Dec 4, 2006

June 2002 & December 2003 & August 2006

Chek Lap Kok Airport -- Very Big and Spacious!
I've always wanted to go to Hong Kong...

watching all those Hong Kong drama serials got me acquainted with a bit of the culture and a lot about the cuisine... especially their roasted goose and dim sum.

And of course the tourism promotion advertisements just pitched it as a shopping and dining paradise, which i'm sure that it is... and in my short 3 day 2 night stay there... i found it all to be true!

This is a view of the airport -- the scene where everything begins!
:)

My first trip was in June 2002, enroute from LAX back to Singapore. It was a short 2 night stay but I had all the dim sum I wanted. :)

My second trip was in December 2003 with my parents and sister. This time we bunked in my aunt's house in Tin Shui Wai in the New Territories... That was quite an experience.
Flats in HOng Kong are a lot smaller than our pigeon-holes back home...
My aunt brought us to eat exquisite dishes only the locals know of... and that was the best part of the trip -- plus getting to play with my baby cousin who i absolutely adore!

May 2005

This was my third trip to HOng Kong and the first time I've stayed on Hong Kong island.

It was a very short getaway weekend and I went back to the local haunts to eat -- fried fish balls and Peking Duck of course! :)

It was the first time that i went to Lan Kwai Fong and was pretty impressed by the scene -- it was lively and eclectic!

It was also the first time I went to visit Stanley Market which i absolutely enjoy because of its quaint, laid-back charm...
Angela and I all ready for fun!

August 2006

This trip was a short 3D2N thing that turned into a 4D3N one due to Typhoon Prapiroon's visit to the island! :)

It's my first encounter with wild weather and it's really an experience...

Of course, i brought Gel to eat... hehhehehe... we had Peking Duck and Fried Fish Balls and all the wan tons and noodles and roasted meat we could pack in...

And of course, we did the shopping as it's the Summer Sales! :)

What fun!
