The Trevi Fountain -- immortalised in so many movies and in a recent MTV is so beautiful... The amazing thing about Italy is the astonishing number of water fountains! All grand and lovely in their own stunning way...
The Trevi Fountain was something I had to see when I was in Rome -- it is after all, one of the defining highlights of any person's itinerary to the Eternal City.
We were at the Trevi Fountain the first night we were in Rome, and the last night as well as the morning before we left Rome...
The evening views of the fountain were very different from the early morning one we had of it on the last few hours before we left... the whole atmosphere was different -- not only because of the lighting and the buzzing atmosphere of tourists and locals alike, but because of the significance of the Trevi.
You're supposed to throw a coin into the fountain over your shoulder to ensure your return to this beautiful city... the very first day I was there, I already knew that I wanted to return to Rome again, one day...
and the night before we left, we'd gone there for dinner, in one of the many little restaurants nearby... and I'd thrown in another coin to make sure that the first wish came true!
In the morning of the next and last day there, we'd gone to the Trevi again and as it was early... we had the whole fountain to ourselves, before the busloads of tourists were deposited at this landmark... and again, I'd thrown a coin over my shoulder and made a wish...
and I hope that my wish comes true, one day...
I'd go back and look at the Trevi Fountain again, and wish that I'd return again... :)
