"Revisiting Melbourne" Melbourne by volarevolare

I visited this city when I was 10 & later when I visited a friend who was studying in Melbourne University. Kevin was reading a double degree in Business & Law -- it was 1995, if I'm not wrong... My earliest impression of Melbourne was very fond -- my aunt lived in the Mulgrave area and we visited Great Ocean Road, dressed as Victorians at Ballarat, went to Philip Island to see the fairy penguins, took a ride on Puffing Billy and went to Luna Park! Sat on the first roller coaster ride ever and that got me hooked to the thrill of it (was really glad to visit 6Flags when I got to New Jersey later on) and I remember the funny headband I got with 2 things bouncing like a Martian's antenna ;) We also went to Mount Danedenong and missed the forest fire by a day! It was a good trip!

On my 2nd visit, Kevin took me to Ballarat, Great Ocean Road, Philip Island as well... What was different was Aunty Winsome's curried egg sandwiches which we ate along the way :) We also went for a stay at King Billy Cottage and we went horse-riding as well! He also brought me to explore other parts of the city and I ate my first kebab an pita bread. Melbourne Uni was also very impressive and I wished I were studying there with him.

Melbourne looks familiar and walking down Collins Street and its surroundings, I recognize places from before. The feel of the place is just as cosmopolitan...
