If you have read my other pages you will know that Singapore is my favourite city. If it wasn't half way across the world from my family I might just emigrate! It is my idea of a perfect city. It is so clean it sparkles, as a woman it is probably the safest city in the world - it has strict rules ie it is illegal to chew gum, you can only smoke in designated areas and they give the death penanly for drug crimes but I don't chew gum or smoke, and I don't do drugs so the rules don't worry me! I would be for them in Manchester if it made the city a safer place for children to grow up in and made the streets and public buildings so clean.
Another thing I noticed in Singapore was that the people seemed to have much more respect for each other. Singapore is very multi cultural and the people are a mix of Malay, Indian, Chinese and European which seems to have created a very accepting society. The photo was taken in China Town and as you can see a wedding was going on and they were taking pictures outside the temple.
Apart from the safety and cleanliness, Singapore has to be a shopping haven! There are air conditioned shopping malls everywhere and Orchard Road is the place to go for upmarket shopping. From my point of view Singapore has everything. It is modern, clean, safe, has fab shops, cheap accomodation and some really interesting cultural sites. I simply must go back soon!
