Hi! Well, who am I? I'm a student on placement from England. I'm living in Basel and working for a certain pharmaceutical company who shall remain nameless. As I'm living here at the moment I thought I'd better start with this page. As and English person living in Switzerland this is going to have loads of info relating to living here. I'm perpetually surprised by Basel and the people who live in it, it is a fantastic city which I've learnt to love.

Basel is a major European pharmaceutical centre; Novartis, 5th largest pharmaceutical company in the world, has it's head quarters here, and Roche also have a sizeable presence. Whether you like it or not the industry is here to stay and very much a part of the city. The companies sponsor a huge variety of events and groups which results in the diverse range of cultural activities and goings on that Basel has to offer. These range from FCB (the double league and cup winning football team) to newspapers, the ColourKey card and cultural events. They are very much responsible for giving the city it's life and diverse range of people (over 144 different nationalities live in Basel according to the latest media campaign by the city). They also give a pretty display of lights across the horizon, best see from the Pfalz!
