Tromsų is in the north of Norway, probably the northernmost Norway town with an airport, and the northernmost city in the world.
During the winter, Tromsų is in polar night that means, technically, no sun rise from September to the next April.
This picture shows the brightest moment, and the scenery was just amazing!
Tromsų is also the base for all the Arctice expeditions. There is a large and modern polar research center where scientists from all over the world and different majors are working together. |
| | Tromsų region (the main land) When people talk about Tromsų, they usually refer to the small island where the airport sits. However, the Tromsų region (the administrative definition) includes not only this island but the much larger piece sitting opposite to the island.
After 2pm, where the sky is completely dark, we saw from the island such a wonderful scene. |
The port - another perspective Looking at the port from the trestle in the Tromsų channel. | | |

FletteMette Mon May 15, 2006 22:13 UTC Nice pics! Tromsų is not the northernmost Norwegian town with an airport, though, and the polar night only lasts from Nov 21st to Jan 21st... :o) |
