Friendship

Favorite thing: Built in 1797, the Friendship arrived to Salem on September 1, 1998, after two years of construction in Albany. This is the largest wooden frigate build in New England in more than a century.

The Salem Visitor Center

Favorite thing: Start your Salem tour in the Visitor Center to get what-to-see info. It is centrally located, and every tourist attraction is within walking distance from there.

The U.S. Custom House

Favorite thing: The U.S. Custom House in Salem was built in 1818 and was responsible for 8-12 percent of the nation’s revenue collections in 19th. Century.
Custom House became famous when Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote his book “The Scarlet Letter” describing the building, its interior and the people who worked there.
Today, the U.S. Custom House is a part of the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.

The Witch Museum

Favorite thing: There are so many witch museums in Salem, but this, I guess, is the most popular one.
Don't expect to see a huge museum of witch history with sculptures and paintings. In this musem you'll see a 25 minutes presentation that covers the history of witchcraft.
