Lever's Soap Factory Village!!! The Lady Lever Art Gallery is one of the artistically designed art galleries I've visited and I enjoyed seeing the Pre-Raphaelites, a large collection of beautiful wedgewood artwork and crockery and also the Italian and Greek marble sculptures. It also has nice gardens in which you can spend some time too!! There are a lot of artefacts brought back by Sir William Hesketh Lever from his world travels to Africa, Egypt and other places around the world and they are well preserved here. There is a nice collection of small, handy and pocket sundials to tell the time from any place on the earth!!! (My favourite item in this collection!!!). Also on display is one of the first soap cutting machines which was used by Lever to manufacture soap in those days from his little factory in Port Sunlight!! This beautiful place is just a short train ride away from Liverpool and a perfect day out for seeing the gallery as well as the small village with some excellent architectural houses to see. So do not give it a miss if you have a day to spare in Liverpool!!! |
