The islands of Venice - sinking, stinking but still very pretty place!!! One cannot but feel impressed by the wealth of art and architecture in this fascinating city with a lot of bridges and waterways with hardly any roads and luckily no cars or buses or trains!!! Just the way I prefer it to be like ...... to be walked and enjoyed on foot!!!
Venice's waterways are the main lifeline of these islands and the gondolas are the romantic versions (not found anyplace else) for couples to enjoy their honeymoons!!! The vaporettos are the slow moving waterbuses and the taxies are pretty expensive though faster too!!!
The art that is filled in the palaces, art galleries and museums here is unrivalled and worth taking a good look at if you have the time!!! Do not miss going up the campanile (clock tower) and the San Marcos Basilica!!! Great views of the islands and a different perspective altogether!!! Not worth missing!!!
The Venice Pass for the state museums and art galleries is worth buying if you are there for a day or three and it can get you free travel on the vaporetto as well as free use of the toilets too!!! HAHAHA!!! You can even go to Murano or Burano islands on this pass too!!!
The number of churches are really impressive compared to the number of people actually staying in Venice!!! Most places to stay are very over priced as is everything in this island city as it is expensive to bring things here by boat and is easily the most expensive place to be in Italy!!! But still worth visiting atleast once in your lifetime to enjoy the beauty of it all!!! I will definitely be coming back for more!!! Once is surely not enough!!!
- Pros:Pretty, Beautiful architecture, bridges and waterways, gondolas, gelato (icecream) and no cars/buses/trains!!!
- Cons:Stinking, Sinking, Most Expensive City!!!
- In a nutshell:Lovely place to be!!! Would love to come back for more!!!

Interesting intro and good tips. Anyway I liked Venice and can come back there again and again.
At seven o'clock you will definately notice the bell tower. The furniture is fragile. Good location. The lady can't speak english and is obsessed with "switch off light" and "silence is recommended" signs. 25 mins to San Marco 55 euros-2 people.
Thanks for commenting on my India question and good tips about transportation in Venice. I will go there in October with Ryanair.
Its true, lovely place to be ... and I will also love to go back, thanks for the tips
That's a place I'd love to visit, too! Possibly before it is sunken into the sea...
