Merdeka Palace Hotel Suites: Independence Merdeka Palace Hotel Review

The name Merdeka means independence. So, the hotel is like stepping into a time machine, bringing you back to post independence day of Sarawak. The hotel is like a museum, there's even a black and white photo of Sir James Brooke on a boat in Sarawak river in the toilet. Hmmmm.

Anyway, the staff is friendly, service is OK, buffet breakfast is just like any other hotel breakfast.

Unique Qualities: I really like the old colonial style of the hotel. Its got the Victorian feel, with wall to wall wallpaper. Very cosy indeed.

Holiday Inn Damai Lagoon (Teluk Penyuk Santubong): Now known as Damai Puri Resort & Spa Holiday Inn Resort Damai Lagoon Review

A very pleasant stay here at Damai Puri. Our room was facing the swimming pool, at the same time facing the great South China Sea. This is a very relaxing place to be, surrounded by nature. The Santubong mountain is just next door, and the sound of the south China Sea waves is perfect.

It is also just 5 minutes walk away to the Serawak Culture Village, displaying the various ethnic groups houses. The cultural show which lasted about 30 minutes was entertaining.

Unique Qualities: Perfect for honeymooners who have nothing else to do.

The message at the spa village is very relaxing too. Cost of spa is RM180 for 60 minutes. Plus taxes, total cost is RM207.
