Rainbow Alley

This lake in north central B.C. is legendary for its huge fish. Stretching more than 200 km or 125 miles, this lake is a major fishery for rainbow trout over 12 pounds, cuttthroat trout to 3 pounds and immense Lake trout of more than 40 pounds. The single reason for this fabulous fishery is: Sockeye salmon. Its a nursery lake for one of the largest salmon runs on the continent when millions of fish spawn in nearby rivers and creeks. The young salmon smolts remain in the lake for two years before migrating to the sea via the Skeena River and become easy prey for the larger rainbow trout. Where Babine Lake narrows into Nilkitkwa Lake this stretch of water is known as "Rainbow Alley" and this area is one of the best flyfishing waters in the entire world! In addition there are some fabulous insect hatches that only add to the excitement.

Amazing!!! Your orientation of this trout wonderland and the wilderness surrounding it is in a word astonishing ... I do hope I can touch the earth and wade the waters in BC's front yard one day. Thx 4 this posting!
