Calmar takes it's name from the Nordic settlement in Sweden. It's located in a very fertile grain growing area just south of Edmonton and about 10 miles west of Leduc, not far from the International Airport. Dotting the fields around here are many oil pump jacks because it sits in the middle of the Leduc–Devon oilfield.
One of the chief attractions to Calmar is the Calmar Bakery More on that to come.
