Two large ferrys cross the lake from Kootenay Bay to Balfour. Each can accomodate about 80 vehicles and the crossing time is about 35 minutes...and, it's free!

Gem of the Kootenays - Kootenay Lake

Crystal clear streams feed the huge lake. This one is near Kooscanook.

The lake is about 80 miles long, up to 5 miles wide and nearly 600 feet deep.
