I don't know how you would descibe Fatal's other than saying it has great food, huge portions and very reasonable prices! (and of course it is becoming the de facto VT meeting place!)

For those who aren't native English speakers.... Fatal means something is deadly or can cause death. In Hungarian (Magyar), fatal means wooden plate. Quite a difference that makes for a moment of amusement when reading the name of a restaurant!

Favorite Dish: Hmmm.... I honestly can't say as I haven't had everything on the menu yet, but I ate there twice and both times the food was fantastic. I did have the weinerschnitzel and it was HUGE (and very tasty) I don't remember what I had t he second time I was there, but it was delicious as well.

Restaurant Name: Sir Lancelot

This medieval restaurant serves hearty portions of good food! It was just a little more expensive than the average restaurant, but you have large portions and a great atmosphere.

Restaurant Name: Sir Lancelot

This restaurant has very good food, large portions, a good wine list and a very cool decor.

Unfortunately, we were there are a fairly slow time and our waiter knew some people at one of the other tables so the service was a bit spotty. He took good care of us when he was around, but unfortunately, that was not as often as it should have been.

Favorite Dish: We asked the waiter for something that was traditional Hungarian and he suggested something that was not on the menu, Hungarian potatoes. Well, we ordered them and we were very surprised by how large of a portion as well as the presentation and the little extras on the platter. (And yes, I mean platter, not plate!)

Notice the size of the mug next to the platter. It was big enough to hold at least .5 litres. The portion was huge and as I recall, the price for it was only about $2-3 USD.

And yes, it tasted at least as good as it looks!

If you are not amazingly hardcore about the facilities being Vegan with no meat products in the area, I would say that you will not have a difficult time in Budapest. Almost every restaurant I went into had some sort of main, side and appetizer dishes that would befit a vegetarian. I don't know how a Vegan would fare, but as I am a fan of pork, beef, etc. I did not pay THAT close of attention to the menu offerings from a vegetarian viewpoint.

But a vegetarian shouldn't have any problems finding good food without meat while there.
