| Portland from the Water Front |
It has been about 23 years since I visited Portland. The city has grown sprawling over the hills and dales as well as going upward. Inspite of the growth the city has kept its mountain pioneering spirit. The strong protectionism of the environment seems to be working. Greenery is everywhere and the city blends with the environment. |
Down by the Riverside The Columbia river cuts through the city and has given the city its character. |
Fishing and trapping built the city. Today it is a modern and peaceful place to live and work. 95 miles of the river were dredged to make this up river city an accessible seaport. |
