"FLOWERS AND WHITE HOUSES" Catarina by Sininen

Catarina Travel Guide: 8 reviews and 61 photos

I spent half a day visiting Catarina, San Juan de Oriente and Niquinohomo, which are also known as Pueblos Blancos because of the typical white houses. I took a bus from Granada, which drove through beautiful coffee growing region. But I also saw some really poor dwellings on the way there and it was bit shocking. There is a bus from Granada to Catarina every half an hour leaving one block from the market. Easy to find and the locals will help you if needed. The ticket cost 9 cordobas ($0,54).

My first impression on Catarina was quite positive. I liked the small village atmosphere and friendly curiosity of local people. Catarina is known of its nurseries and I could indeed see lots of beautiful flowers there.

The view from El Mirador over Laguna de Apoyo looks great! I think I was there 20 years ago, at least I have a photo with me and a great view over Laguna de Apoyo.
