I was warned beforehand. All the travel guides warned about Lima and so did my friends so I was expecting to enter a city where I couldn't walk without being alert all the time and the locals trying to mug and rob me. Well, for me Lima was nothing like that. I felt safe there all the time, I wasn't cheated, I wasn't robbed, I wasn't mugged. I used common sense and didn't walk around with my camera in sight or pockets baggy with money. I was careful and nothing happened. Maybe I was just lucky. I wasn't too impressed by Lima in general, but it was better than I had expected. There were many interesting and beautiful places and people were very friendly and helpful. Maybe the fact that I speak some Spanish helped too. During my stay there I saw at least one demonstration every day, that's why the title of my page is City of Demonstrations. |
