  • King Solomon's Pillars is located at Timna Park whixh is about 30 km northern to Eilat.
An amazing site in the desert. If you go on a summer time make sure you have
enough water and i mean a lot of water, i was there at May 2003 and it was
above 40c degrees, It was just way too hot and I felt i couldn't stop drinking.
Another option at this park is to see all sites there by a Car or by special trecks
for hiking. all the details will be given to you at the entrance to the park when
paying the admission or you can check it out in the below website.

Things To Do: Diving in the red sea !

  • The Red sea has a wonderful underwater life and its very popular and famous all over the world for it. Don't miss it !!!

Diving clubs / shops can be found all over Israel but i definitely recommend you to dive in Eilat... underwater life in the red sea are uncomparitable to those in the Meds sea.
Its so rich and beautiful while so grey and boring in the med' sea.
You can take a course in those clubs there or if you already have licencs then you can hire an equipment and dive... to the kingdom of quite ....

Two great place to take diving courses are:

  • Swim with the Dolphins in the Dolphin Reef in Eilat. (more about it in my Eilat Page).
The Dolphin Reef is a wonderful place where you can dive with them, no word can describe the feeling of being with this wonderful creaturs, its an amazing experience which you will never forget ... don't miss that !!
The Dolphin Reef is located 5 min' drive south from the center of town, there is a lovely beach there, two restaurants, beach-bar gifts shop, kids activity center and a dive center.
You can enjoy with the dolphins and stay at the beach for all day long. You can also see the feeding of the dolphins (look at the schedule in the website) and just relax by the water. Lovely place.
Obviously diving with them is more expensive.

Things To Do: kinnereth Lake (Tiberias Lake)
  • Tip Rating:
  • Updated by Sharon on Jan 31, 2005

  • Visit Lake kinnereth or by its other name 'the sea of galile' which has so many attractions around it.
On its eastern side the Golan Mountains (golan hights), Ostrich farm, en gev and more and on the other side some of the most holly sites for the christians, Waterparks, fish restaurants etc'. Take a short cruise and ofcours swim in the nice water of the lake.
BUT Although the lake looks normally very calm and tempting it has some dangerouse places that you shouldnt go in, this lake is very tricky, dont be as 'smart' as others were trying to be... better go only to the formal beaches where its allowed to swim and watch it if you're on its eastern side at the late afternoon hours ! those are the most dangerouse hours fpr swimming !

  • One of the oldest and most interesting places in Israel.
Caesarea was basically founded by King Herod in 20BC to honor Caesar Augustus.
the very ancient town of Caesarea used to be the capital of the Roman province for almost 600 years.

If you're heading up north and thinking of stop and visit The old city of Caesarea then you'll have to spend there at least a few hours in order to see it all.

Caesarea is located only about 60km northern to Tel Aviv and very easy to arrive in a Car.
Drive on Road No. 2 that leads to Haifa, after aprx 30 - 40 min' you'll see a sign to Caesarea... from there you'll easily find it.

Directions: About 60km north to Tel Aviv, Streight on the coast road all the way till you'll see the exit to Caesarea.

Hi Sharon - how are you? Still working in Tel Aviv? Jordan sounds great and I look forward to seeing your Jordanian photos. I have only got as far as the airport in Jordan - on my way to Thailand some years ago. Take care.
