I have visited this place many times in the late 80s' when my parents were living here and decided to do a romantic page on Oslo because it is in this city that I got married.
Most of the time I came by car driving through Sweden and few times by plane. It is absolutely fantastic to arrive by car and see the glimmering lights of the city built on the slopes of the fjord, reflecting over the water.
I like the atmosphere whether its in wintertime with white snow on slopes up to Holmenkollen or summer with all that green grass on houses roof and the smell of shrimps down at the port. This is something to try, buy shrimps directly from the fishermen's boats and savour them at once - nothing beats the fresh salty taste of pink fishy flesh.
I can tell I've visited more than once all museums, viking boats and art galleries, gone shopping in IKEA (as it didn't exists at that time in Finland), main shopping malls and seen the citylife grow to the ultimate european nightlife city, before that nothing happened after 8pm.
My visits in Oslo were each time too short and therefore didn't get to know the rest of the country but this city will always have a special place in my heart forever.
