Beautiful Parks

St. Stephen's Green....
St. Stephen's Green stands as one of Dublin's loveliest and largest parks. Enclosed around 1664, it was laid out in its present form in the late 1800s. Fountains, a small lake, interesting sculptures, and flowerbeds dot the 22 acre park. Mrs. Lovvorn, Ms. Ashburn, and I enjoyed a walk around the park during our June 2006 EF Tour.
Mrs. Lovvorn and Ms. Ashburn sample the fare....

Good eatin' in Ireland....

Before her Burger King fetish fully bloomed, Ms. Ashburn was talked into going with us to The Oliver St John Gogarty Restaurant in the Temple Bar Area, where we sampled the Guinness and Beef Casserole and Mrs. Lovvorn enjoyed the mussels. Later one evening, Kathy, Karen, Ken, and I stepped in to listen to some traditional Irish music, but we were discouraged by the large crowd and ended up at the quieter Octagon in Bono's Clarence Hotel--very nice!

A Town for Writers

The kid parked under James Joyce's statue posed like a writer version of Derek Zoolander--with glasses, without glasses, looking reflectively away from the camera, etc. He was obviously looking for writing inspiration--easy to find in Dublin, with or without Joyce memorabilia over your shoulder!
...a poser?

Pros:"A town for writers and young people and history buffs!"
Cons:"I don't live there!"
In A Nutshell:"...friendly people who really know how to show hospitality!"
