Paris continues to be "a moveable feast."

by LBKesner - last update: Feb 14, 2006

The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower
When I was a little girl growing up in Bogata, Texas, I thought only movie stars and millionaires got to go to Paris, France; I was happy just going to Paris, Texas! I still feel blessed to be able to visit Paris, and nothing says "Paris!" like the Eiffel Tower with its evening lights. We were standing below the tower when it made its transition from daytime to twilight, and saw the twinkling lights at dusk. Beautiful! On our most recent visit (February 2006), we caught the view of the tower from the Pompidou's escalator landings. Its lights made it look like it was decked out in diamonds.
Arc d'Triumph...

Another "You Know You're in Paris When..." Moment

According to the website at http://www.aviewoncities.com/paris/arcdetriomphe.htmIt, Arc d'Triumph "was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to commemorate his victories, but he was ousted before the arch was completed. In fact, it wasn't completed until 1836 during the reign of Louis-Philippe. [...The monument was designed] by Jean Chalgrin [and was] based on the Arch of Titus in Rome." Seeing it at the end of the Champs-Elysees still makes my heart beat fast! Visit the Arc D'Triumph during the day for a close-up view of the reliefs and many adornments, but see the monument under floodlights at night for a heart-stopping view.

Around every corner....

Everywhere you turn in France, there's a scene you would want to paint if you painted, a scene that inspires a story if you're a writer. Of course, artists come to Paris.

Pros:"The amazing food, the cool cafes, the well-mannered people, the jazz, rainy nights, and the art...."
Cons:"The trip home...."
In A Nutshell:"Everything you imagine it could be, it is!"

black pepper, orange blossom, jasmine, rose petal, pistachio, caramel with fine sea salt, etc. Wow - we tried the same macarons in February! I tried Violette, too. My faves now are the rose & the caramel au sel - divine.
