Mahdia - a little place in Tunisia Mahdia is a little fisher village located 50 kilometres south of Monastir, on the east coast; It was the old capital of the country. The part of Mahdia's charm lies in the maritime heritage.
The fishing port - with a pitoresque atmosphere - is one of the most important in Tunisia. The local speciality are sardines, anchovies and herrings.
