Vienna Things to Do Tips by Dariana

In one of the most beautiful glasshouse, built in ”Jungendstill” you can walk among free flying butterflies .A piece of rainforest in the Burggarten park with a luxuriant vegetation ,natural and faked flowers ( but it seems so natural),a real rainbow of colours . There are a lot of interesting butterflies and those that I photographed maybe aren`t the most spectacular. Take a look to my traveloques and enjoy.

Former gardens of the imperial palace ,Burggarten is an oasis of peace in the heart of the city. It was laid out for the King`s pleasure in 1819 and hundred years later it was open to the public. Plane-trees, ginkgoes, chestnuts , ashes ,all in a harmonious composition. Burggarten is well known because of Mozart monument : a dreamer, nonchalant, “ l`enfant terrible”, insouciant to the crowd of tourist eager for a picture on his feet.

Facing Hundertwasser Haus you find out another Vienna. The sobriety of its palaces and squares is forgotten and reminiscences of a fairy-tale bring a smile on your face.
There are hundred of pages wrote about this house and its creator, about his personality and genius .His words describe the best his ideas: “If we allow Nature to paint the walls of our houses, the walls will be natural and human - and then we can begin a new life," He considered himself as a physician architect whose task was to “cure sick houses”.
Colourful painted façades, curved walls ,trees and bushes that erupt from roofs and balconies, crazy fenestration, splashes of mosaic, Venetian balconies, onion domes ,statues : a charming chaos that attract thousands of tourists.

The chaos continues inside: a medley of wood, glass, ceramic mosaic, tiles .Just living here is a motif to live. It is like being part of Fun. I saw once a documentary took inside and ,believe me, the apartments are incredible.

It is a monument of gratitude ,initiated by Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian after his brother ,Emperor Franz Josef survived an assassination attempt in 1853.
Built in the style of the French Gothic cathedrals from 13th century, this jewel has a foundation stone brought from Mount of Olives ,near Jerusalem. Unfortunately, the church was in renovation so I didn`t see the exterior, but just a small part of the portal above the entrance.
But …the interior deserve all the attention. Paintings, sculptures and stained-glass windows are exquisite The sun light through the windows adorn with rainbows the austere atmosphere .Keep the silence and you will hear the wing beat of angels above.
