Ataturk is the founder of Modern Turkish Republic. History will always remind him as a great statesman and a peace keeper.
Undoubtedly, Ankara is more than a capital. It has prestigious universities, rich museums and an exciting social life being a serious alternative to Istanbul.
Interestingly, I had always good memories there. Most of my travels were business ones but I and my family enjoy its nice destinations year by year.
