For someone who always travels alone - and far - this was a change.

I had the opportunity, through my work, to escort 48 Independent Living residents to Blackwater Falls State Park. I enjoyed spending some "down time" with these friends of mine who I see every day, but always in a rush. Watching the superb scenery - mostly through tinted bus windows - while listening to their stories, was most enjoyable.

Perhaps because of my travel companions, this destination felt more remote in time than in space. It was as if I had traveled a few miles, but also 50 years back: in the restaurant at the Lodge, I expected to see families straight out of 1950s TV sitcoms walk in and savor the ham and macaroni.

Ah yes, it is always nice to get out a smell raw nature! Blackwater Falls State Park looks beautiful and you managed some spectacular photos while you were at it!

Hi lucky you to see the beautiful fall colours-I love them!This yrs fall colours in the UK hav been stunning!Ive driven around West Virginia but a mth too late for the colours!still beautiful tho.Lucky us to see yr pics - please show some more tho!
