Philadelphia - The Eastern State Penitentiary

by calcaf38 - last update: Mar 5, 2006

I dreamed of visiting the Eastern State Penitentiary for years.

In the Summer of 2005, I was in an unusual mood, because I was between jobs.

So, no Bangladesh, no Devil's Island that summer.

But on only one tank of gas, I could enjoy the haunting ruins of the Eastern State Penitentiary, and I was not disappointed.

Hi Oliver, thanks for checking out my Solovetsky page! (And yes, the island is as remote on VT as it is in real life.) I visited ESP in 2006, and I loved it! Your comments sum up the place very well. Good luck on your future travels! :)

it gives off the vibe of the old melbourne jail where ned kelly was hung - they never saw or spoke to another human being either - and the cells had such thick walls they must have suffered from sensory deprivation - very cruel - but what a wonderful page
