I encountered the proverbial Southern hospitality in its purest form in Montgomery, Alabama. Absolutely everyone I met asked me where I was from, offered help and conversation. Ironically, I came to this haven of courtesy to study man's injustice to man. It is precisely from the people who could still be angry - the elderly witnesses who volunteer at various Civil Rights venues - that I learned a deep lesson in grace and forgiveness.
