"Welcome to paradise" Ilha do Corvo by Doombert

Ilha do Corvo Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 6 photos

Small but perfectly formed

Corvo is the smallest and northernmost island of the Azorean archipelago. With less than 500 inhabitants, it obviously isn't the place to go if you are looking for nightlife, top-notch shopping or luxurious resorts. But if you visit for more than a few hours, i.e. don't just come as a daytripper from Flores going up to the Caldeirao and leaving again immediately, you will be pampered by the locals' warm-hearted, heartfelt hospitality, their delicious, if rustic, food and their genuine interest in anyone who actually spends a bit of time on the island. Most of all, though, you will experience majestic natural beauty, the wonders of a place unspoilt by industry and pollution, and the magic of remoteness that makes you forget about the worries of city life within hours. If you want to see a unique place, a unique community, and recharge your batteries far away from it all, Corvo is the perfect place to go.

The Caldeirao

This is what the vast majority of visitors come to see. Corvo's volcanic crater is considered the most beautiful of the entire archipelago, and i'm not going to disagree! While it is undoubtedly the biggest, most breathtaking and unmissable sight of the island, it is by no means all there is to see though.

Yep, that's all

One village, one major road plus one partially asphalted one and a few little side roads. You won't ever get lost here!
