From Sandanski you can hike to the Popina Luka region, where you find lakes, waterfalls and pine forrests. The hike takes 3 hours and you can stay at the Hizha Yana Sandanski (07443-3198 for reservation). The trail starts at the Makedonia bulevard, through the city park and its 17 kilometres from there.
