I passed through this quaint town on my way to the Shaker Village. From my perspective, it seems like a very tidy and historical place to live. There are beautiful, monstrous victorian homes leading into town that, by themselves, remind me of a great era in history.

By the way, you MUST visit Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill! It's right off US-68 just south of the Kentucky River. Approaching the site, the rolling countryside gives way to miles of limestone walls and grazing animals seen in the near and far. The village once was home to the amazing Shaker people, a strict but very progresive society that died off. It looks like a cross between colonial times and the Mennonites, but something completely different. Their lifestyle and skill is evident in the architecture and workmanship on display. The site is a living museum like Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia or Greenfield Village in Michigan. I saw a live performance of Shaker music that was fascinating. Anyone appreciating history will enjoy this greatly!
