Belize has some fantastic things to do and see. We spent a day here while at port on a cruise ship. Cave Tubing in Belize is something totally unique to do here, and we had a fantastic time.

Belize has a fascinating culture and was more interesting than any other place we visited on the cruise. Our guide Rudy explained many of the country's interesting facts. Belize is the only country in Central America where English is the first language. These days they drive on the right side of the road, but that wasn't until Hurricane Hattie hit in 1961 that they changed from the left side. It wiped out the area and forced them to relocate the capital from Belize City to Belmopan more inland. There are only 270,000 people living in Belize, and the average salary for a man in Belize City is only $100 US per week. The US dollar is worth 2 to 1 over the Belize Dollar, and car accidents are the major cause of deaths here.
After driving with Rudy through a tropical storm in the tour bus I started to agree. On the way back from tubing we saw a Chevy Silverado Pickup truck that had flipped over and was totally destroyed. All this because of a sharp turn and the rain storm that had just passed.
