Getting TO/AROUND: Getting there is not usually an issue. Plane, ship or swim. Wouldn't recommend the third during the winter :o
but...once you are there transportation will play a major role in how much you get to do and see.

Many people get to Oahu (where all the major airlines fly to) and then head off to Maui, Kauai or one of the other major islands.

Aloha Airlines will probably be your best bet. Island hops are relatively inexpensive. $321 for a seven day island pass.

'The BUS' as it's called is another easy way to get around the city, but you have to go places on its schedule, not yours. here is a website with timetables and routes

My truck, pictured to the left, is a great Hawaii vehicle. Throw everything you need in the back and head to the beach or a Triathlon.

Cycling in Hawaii is excellent as well. Every Saturday there are groups that depart from Kapiolani and Triangle parks. Triangle park is just over the diamond head road hill from Kapiolani. Kapiolani park is right in Waikiki, and is also the finish line for the Honolulu Marathon and many other local races.

Getting TO/AROUND: Motorcycles are an excellent way to travel the islands. The weather is nice, and there are actually more Harley Davidsons sold here than in any other state. At least that's the statistic I've heard from dealers out there. I drove this Suzuki Marauder 800 around Hawaii for about six months. Loved it.
