...a great place to be outside. Aloha to da kine!! A visitor is known as Haoli and the residents are Kama'aina. You may see discounts for Kama'aina and they are meant to cut costs for the already financially tortured locals. A gallon of milk will cost you $5.00. don't hop fences at barbers point at night. you might fall down :) that was for my honey. we spent new years 2000 on the beach. photo was taken at dusk, barbers point beach.
I lived in Hawaii for three years, and it's impossible to sum up an experience like that on a web page, but a piece of my heart still lies somewhere on a beach in hawaii. I shall always keep a piece of Hawaii inside me. It just has this wonderful feeling about it. The people, the food, the Aloha spirit, the sand, the water, sunsets, waves, fish, trees, windward rain, leeward heat, north shore fun and pineapple fields. They all combine to make a total package for me. From standing atop Diamond head to snorkling in Hanauma bay to doing triathlons on Waikiki beach and the North shore. Cycling around the windward side, Hiking sacred falls, running in kapiolani park, Sitting at Duke's, the torches in Waikiki, the perimeter road race, Golfing anywhere here, the zipper lane, Kam drive-in and swap meet, skydiving, Da country, the city, HPD, the Honolulu Marathon, Carol Kai, Da Big Kahuna's pizza.
See what I mean, they are all part of a package and together have made a permanent impression in my soul. |
| | A handy map This map shows most of the areas you may visit when going to Oahu. Typically the east side - Windward - is cooler, cloudier, and breezier than the west - Leeward - side of the island. There is also quite a bit more rainfall on the Windward side. Temperatures west of Pearl Harbor get pretty hot in summer, and the landscape is much drier. |
